My family and I had a disappointing experience with Rod Maadarani. I do not recommend this agent from personal experience. I don’t usually leave negative reviews but honestly the experience was frustrating, and this is the only way to get my message across, as I reached out to management and it wasn’t helpful. Rod was recommended to us by a mortgage agent we were working with. We unfortunately decided to follow this agents recommendation. At first it was all smiles and laughs, however, I did notice that Rod was never prepared for the showings we would book. For example, I would ask him about details about a house such as upgrades or dates when windows were changed, or when the house was built. He would confuse the information of the house, and provide me with the wrong information. I knew this because I would look at the fact sheet in my hand, and realize he was giving me the wrong information. A lot of red flags but I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. His excuse was that he was tired from the gym. Instead of showing us around the home, he would sit on his phone on the couch and we would look around with the fact sheet as our guide. He would always make comments like he was doing us a favor by coming all the way to Barrhaven to show us homes, even though it was his job. We let all that slide, and just decided to give him the benefit of the doubt because he was nice at the time. The truth is, you shouldn’t pick an agent just because he’s “nice.” The agent should be sharp, knowledgeable, have high attention to detail, etc. Anyways, we ended up finding a house on the MLS listing, and we told Rod we would like to see it. We liked the house and we put an offer on it! Everything was fine, and the home is ours now! The big issue arose when we moved into the home and found out there was NO A/C!!!!! I messaged Rod telling him about this and he replied “?really.” All our visits before we even put an offer on the home, it was made clear to us that there was an A/C. I mean we didn’t think twice of it and moved on, because we were misinformed that there was an A/C in the home. From his message, it is apparent that he did not know there was no A/C installed. The reason people hire an agent in the first place is so that the agent can pay attention to details such as this. So we move in, there’s no A/C, my 7 year old sister has allergies, and it was during the time there was a heat warning in Ottawa. It was so hot inside the house, that we would sit outside as it was cooler. The fact is if we were informed that there was no A/C before we made an offer, we would have made plans to get it installed the day we moved in, but yet we were stuck without an A/C for a week and a half. Rod stopped answering our calls, he hung up on my co owner numerous time when she tried to contact him. That’s the last we heard of him. After the transaction was complete, he completely stopped all contact with us. I reached out to management, in hopes that Rod could maybe just cover half of the cost of the A/C, as a courtesy, as he simply did not do his job as our agent. I sent the screenshot of the message where Rod was surprised to find out there was no A/C, as well as a screenshot of the phone calls that were made to Rod, where he picked up for 2 seconds and hung up, to the management. Our request was refused, and I was stuck with a 4000$ bill that I was not anticipating. I am currently in the process of buying a second home and I made sure to do my research this time before I chose an agent to work with! Do not make my mistake, and do your research before choosing an agent.
